During injection moulding, we spray melted plastic pellets (granules) into a mould under high pressure. This technique offers more possibilities for shaping (colours, hardness and thicknesses) of products than the thermoforming technique. Due to the relatively high development costs of a mould, injection moulding is mainly used for products in large quantities, for products that will used more often or for technical items with a high duty load.
Moulded products of M-plastics are produced climate-neutrally
The sustainable developments in the horticulture and nursery sector inspired us to work more eco-friendly ourselves. Since early 2017, the production of our total range has been made more sustainable and CO2 neutral, without any consequences for the quality of our products or our rates. We are proud to be a green company in the plastics industry.
M-plastics supplies semi-finished products and end products
Our modern machine park consists of more than ten sprayers. The closing force of the machines varies from 50 to 550 tons. Not only do we supply products for horticulture, but also consumer products (e.g. coffee mugs, crates or fly swatters). In addition, we produce semi-finished products for the industry (such as parts for conveyor belts or electronics) and construction sector.
Return your used injection moulded crates to us for exchange
Usually, moulded products have a longer lifespan than thermoform products. Our injection moulded crates can be used for up to 30 years. We will also exchange your old injection moulded crates (even if we didn’t manufacture them ourselves). We crush them and reuse the materials.
The main material for our injection moulded products is the well recyclable plastic polypropylene. Another material we use is PLA, an eco-friendly alternative to plastic. Many material combinations are possible at M-plastics. Additionally, we process ABS, PC, HDPE, LDPE, PA6, POM, TPU, TPE. We can also process most of these into fillers, such as glass fibre. All our machines are equipped with dosing equipment to be able to dose any desired colour.
The choice for a type of plastic is decisive for the ultimate properties of the end product. iIt should be clear which technical and visual requirements will be set to the product at an early stage in the development process. Suitable materials are chosen on the basis of the requirements.
Each type of plastic has its own unique properties. Stapling force, softening point and resistance to high temperatures (e.g. flame retardance) are examples of material properties which should be taken into account when choosing the material. Injection moulding thus requires a lot of expertise and thorough material knowledge.
We grind our production waste into regranulates so that we can reuse it in our production process.
Bio-plastic is the most sustainable and green plastic one can choose. The vegetal material (PLA of polylactic acid) is made of (for instance) corn starch or sugar cane. M-plastics is able to cost-efficiently process compostable bioplastics of different compositions for you.
We embrace the rise of PLA. In order to make this product a success, we believe good communication towards the end user is essential. Much too often, PLA products still end up in plastic or residual waste instead of in the organic waste bin. This means we miss a great advantage of PLA, since this product will only decompose with organic waste.
The costs of producing and recycling PLA are still much higher than those for polypropylene and polystyrene. The worldwide production capacity is limited.
